Music Is The Remedy

Alan Lee

Ukulele and Backing Vocal

Alan was born on the island of Oahu and raised in a family of musicians from Kauai. As an original member of the Kolohe Kane's he brings out the sounds of Hawaii with his vocals and ukulele play. Living in the L.A. area, he's often found playing at restaurants, private parties, weddings and luau's. Not to mention while in his car stuck in L.A.'s traffic.

Max Komine

Lead Guitar and Backing Vocal

Max was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. He starting playing guitar in High School and performed with several Rock Bands, one of which “December’s Children”, which featured Robert Beaumont---who went on to form the popular Island duo: Olomana. His has a folk music background and spend 12 years as a soloist in various clubs and restaurants on Oahu. While doing these solo gigs, he also moonlighted as a sideman playing bass and singing backing vocals with various local artists including the popular Island duo, Cecilio and Kapono. He also was the guitarist/vocalist with another popular Island group, Country Comfort. Although having deep folk roots, when asked what his favorite kind of music is, the reply is always, “too many to name”, while soft jazz and Basa Nova are certainly favorites.

Guitarists that have influenced him include Lindsey Buckingham, Jim Messina, and the late Chet Atkins. His music interest has no boundaries and he always attempts to incorporate whatever flavor that fits. Max joined the Kolohe Kane’s in 2011 and is presently their guitarist/vocalist. Playing with the Kolohe Kane’s has been an enjoyable experience that helps bring the back the sounds of Hawaii during the Golden years of Hawaiian music.
